Know God
There is a God-given, innate desire in every human being to know God. If you pause for a moment and think about your place in the universe, life must be more than just growing, getting an education, avoiding pain, and seeking pleasure. There must be some sort of order and purpose to your place in history. Where did I come from? Where am I going? Below is the process to understand and reconcile your relationship with God. This is just the starting point to get to know God.
- Understanding My Present Relationship to God
- God created people in the world to relate with Him.
- He gave us a free will to love or disobey Him.
- There was harmony of relationship with the first couple and God.
- He provided them with a beautiful garden home to live.
- God forbade them to eat of one particular tree.
- At some point they disobeyed God.
- Sin entered the world, and it has effected all of creation.
- Because of sin there is a spiritual rift between God and people.
- God sent his only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ to the world.
- His purpose was to take the punishment of our sin.
- Those who accept God's love through the work of His Son are forgiven.
- A right relationship is restored between God and people.
- One can now personally know God as He is revealed in the Bible.*
- Reconciling My Relationship to God
- If you desire to have your relationship with God restored, you may say a prayer like this to help you: "Dear Father, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins. Forgive me of my sins, and make me a new person. I invite your Holy Spirit to come into my life. I will now follow you." If you have said this prayer for the first time, or you are saying it as a recommitment to God, and you live in the Mill City Area, please email me at pastorjim@millcityag.org I would like to get to know you.
- Growing to Know God
- There are a few steps you need to take as a new Christian.
- Tell someone what you have just done.
- Get connected to Mill City Assembly of God or an Evangelical Church.
- Acquire a modern translation of the Bible. Mill City will provide one for you.
- Read the Gospel of Mark in one sitting, and then read the Gospel of John or Matthew at your own pace.
- Attend church and hang out with other believers.
Hope to hear from you soon! Pastor Jim * Genesis 2-3, and Romans 5.1-11
