New Year New YouAs we begin a New Year a lot of people make New Year's resolutions - some of the resolutions that I have heard people make are: they are going to lose weight, get into better shape, not spend so much money, be nicer, and the list can go on and on. The problem with resolutions is we usually give up on them before the end of January!!! I think some of the problems with resolutions is that it is always something dealing with the outside of us when really we need to look at our heart. God's Word tells us in Colossians 3:13 ~
Isn't it wonderful – we are chosen by God, loved by God, and He longs to clothe us with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. We would do better if we made a commitment to Christ, if we allowed Christ to work in our hearts and lives. Each one of us needs forgiveness, each one of us needs a Savior and when you open that door and allow Christ into your life you find that forgiveness, you find your freedom. Now is a good time to allow the Lord to work in your life to make you even more compassionate, be filled with more kindness, and be filled with gentleness and patience. Be humble before the Lord and ask Him if there is something you have been holding on to, some bitter feelings, some resentments, is there someone you need to forgive and if there is now would be a good time to let it go – let forgiveness flood your soul so you can forgive others. With Christ reigning in our hearts and lives we will have a New Year and a New US!!!! |
