Wait Upon The LordBut those who wait for the LORD (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up (close to God) as eagles (mount up to the sun); they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. Isaiah 40:31 (Amplified) Webster's Dictionary defines the word wait as to stay in place in expectation of, to remain stationary in readiness or expectation, to look forward expectantly. How many of us have "urgent prayer needs" that we want the Lord to answer ~ we cry out to Him, we pray and then we read this Scripture and it says to "wait on the Lord", surely the Lord doesn't expect me to wait when I need an answer now, surely the Lord wants me to do something "NOW". We live in such an extreme time of instant ~ we want what we want, when we want it, with no thought to what the Lord might want for us. Waiting is a hard thing to do, we want to see results NOW, we want to see action NOW but God calls us to wait. To me, waiting on the Lord is allowing the Lord to work in my life the plans and purposes He has for me. Does waiting mean just sitting there and doing nothing ~ waiting is giving EVERYTHING over to the Lord and then living my life in close communion with Him. Trusting Him ~ not me trying to control a situation, or telling God what He has to do, and it is not me trying to make things happen, but it is trusting that God will provide and strengthen me and show me and lead me. Are you expectantly waiting for God's answer?? This Scripture tells us we can be renewed ~ when we wait on Him, when we trust Him, when we surrender to Him. When we take the time to listen to His voice, when we take the time to see Him, when we spend time in His presence and His Word, then we will be renewed!! Father God help each one of us to wait on You, to be renewed with Your power and strength!! |
