Journey To ChristmasThis Christmas Season let's go on a journey together, a journey that will lead us to our Savior, a journey in letting our thoughts and hearts settle on Jesus. The reason why we celebrate Christmas is JESUS. This Christmas season as you take time to read the Scriptures concerning the coming of Christ, let it fill you with awe and wonder - allow the Holy Spirit to touch your heart with the truth of the Gospel message. We live in a world where many people still don't know why they are celebrating Christmas, they will spend their Christmas season running here and there, trying to fill an empty void in their heart with buying lots of gifts, making lots of cookies and meals, planning many activities that make their life seem all the more hectic. And when you think about it, what will happen the day after Christmas, for so many it will be a big let down, they didn't get enough presents, people weren't thankful for what they did get, there was no peace on earth in their homes or what ever might come between the truth of Christmas and just another holiday. So this Christmas season let your focus be on Jesus, not just for one day but for a life time. Let the wonderment of Jesus flood your heart and soul. Looking at a couple of Scriptures Mic 5:2 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting. Isa 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Isa 42:1 -4 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. These Scriptures speak to me of a people who are lost ~ in the dark ~ a people who need a deliverer ~ and we know that these Scriptures were fulfilled through Jesus Christ coming to earth. Do we realize the magnitude of Christ's coming? We (you and I) were that people who were lost ~ we were people in the dark ~ Christ gave up His glory, to come to earth as a human baby knowing that He would be rejected and die for the sins of the whole world. So as you begin this Christmas season ask yourself a couple of questions ~ are you at a place of rest with Christ or at a place of discontent, do you find that you are focusing on Jesus or are your focusing on yourself? Christ gave His all ~ what are you willing to give? Are you willing to place your hopes, your dreams, your future, and even your past into the hands of a loving Savior? Are you willing to let the LIGHT of the World shine bright in your heart? Don't just settle for celebrating Christmas but celebrate CHRIST. You will never find contentment and peace and happiness in things or wants or desires but you will find contentment and peace when you give your whole heart and life to Christ. I pray you will open your heart and say Jesus, Light of the World, shine bright in my heart and I give myself wholly to you, I want my journey to Christmas to be focused on Christ. |
